If you are a parent, you are guilty of keep junk; things to remember the first few years of our children’s lives. I’ve decided to not keep these packed away in a box collecting dust, but to display them as art.
For each of my kids I have created a shadow box of memories. These memories hang in my children’s rooms and will be a memento of the first moments of their lives. They contains the outfit they came home from the hospital in, their hospital bracelets, ultrasound pictures, slippers, a soother, a penny from the year they were born … the list of possibilities is endless.
I got my shadow boxes at Michaels. But make sure you get the ones that are about 2 inches deep. This will let you build on top of objects (especially if you want to put an outfit of theirs in). I used double sided tape (the stuff you use to hang picture on the wall) and pins to keep the outfit in place. Simple and easy. A wonderful memento to cherish.
